Quality and Experience:

Oregon Hockey is very competitive. Most of the players have been playing on the ice the majority of their lives. While recognized as club in financial and social standing at the Univ. of Oregon, Ice Hockey competes above the club expectations. Players have a variety of hockey backgrounds, all the way from house leagues to travel squads and through juniors.

General Information:

We have put together some background information about the University of Oregon and Duck hockey that can be accessed below. Please note that the admission application deadline for incoming freshmen is January 15, 2006.

Preparing for UO season:

Please contact us regarding off-season preparation for both try-outs and the season. Conditioning is key as the Ducks are on the ice anywhere for 4 – 6 times a week during the regular season. We highly recommend reading Peter Twist’s book, Complete Hockey Conditioning.

Sign up for Weight Training II, or Weight I if you have little weight training experience. If you are already a team member and taken Weight II, sign up for Sports Conditioning which takes place in the Casanova Center at Autzen Stadium.

We will be happy to help with your conditioning questions and Strength and Conditioning Coach Michael Spino can provide a recommended program.  During the off season, you should get as much ice time as possible and engage in off– ice dryland and strength training.

For more information please contact Coach McCallum at twin_spring@hotmail.com
or Team coordinators at  hockey@uoregon.edu with your questions.
