If your NAV Live Update says it's expired, you can resubscribe for a year by entering the subscription key listed below. Recommended versions of NAV for Windows include 2002 through 2004. There is little difference between these products. The main change in NAV 2003 is the ability to protect users of instant messaging programs. NAV 2004 adds limited spyware detection capability. Only the latest versions of NAV are recommended for the Macintosh. Note that there are no updates for Mac OS 9 or earlier. Please see http://micro.uoregon.edu/av for more information. ------------------------------------------------------- Subscription code for Windows and MacOS X: ND294562BD6 ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Subscription code for Mac OS 9 and earlier: 040698408 ------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------- HOW TO ENTER THE CODE: ---------------------- This process is counterintuitive but not time consuming: CRITICAL TIP: Although NAV will nag you two weeks in advance, you may not have the option to enter the code until it actually expires. ---------------------------- NAV VERSION 2002, 2003, 2004 ---------------------------- 1) Disconnect from the network. 2) Open the Norton program. 3) Run Live Update. This means you can legally run Norton AntiVirus both at work and home free of charge provided you are a current UO student, faculty or staff. All versions of the product for both Macintosh and Windows PC's are covered under this agreement including the server product (Corporate Edition). Norton AntiVirus can also be found on our Duckware CD-ROM which is a free CD-ROM we give out each year. The real Symantec CD's can be borrowed from the Computing Center Documents Room which is in 175 McKenzie Hall. ------------------------------------------------------------- Server Product: [Advanced Departmental Users Only] Symantec makes a different product for Windows NT and 2000 servers called "corporate edition." Corporate Edition requires your users to use 'corporate edition client' which is different from the retail NAV we normally distribute. The full contents of the corporate edition including ISO images (so you can burn your own set of CD's) are present on this server in the AntiVirus folder. See ftp://public.uoregon.edu Microservices has very limited ability to support servers, and then only in conjunction with departmental request for assistance. If you are a support professional working for a UO department or school we will try to help you. ------------------------------------------------------------- Expert Notes: The virus updates can also be downloaded from Symantec's website http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download.html *********************************************************** If you have any problems using the Antivirus software including issues with live update, please call us and let us know.
