Food Pyramid Quest

Learning about eating a Balanced diet.

        Project

Introduction     Activity 1    Activity 2        Project    Teacher Help

1.           For four days, you will list ALL the foods you eat, and the approximate serving size, (get as close as you can.)  At the end of each day, write how many servings you had out of each category.  It will be easiest to use a separate piece of paper each day.  At the end of the four days, staple all four sheets together, and look over them.  This will be your food log. Look at any patterns you see, anything you are missing, or anything interesting to you.

2.           Using a large poster board, you are going to draw the FDA food pyramid, as well a food pyramid showing what you ate.  Draw/list foods you ate, and foods you should have eaten to be healthy. Be creative!  You are encouraged to use different materials such as markers, construction paper, magazines, and fun foam.  It will probably be easiest to divide your poster board into two sides.

3.           On the back of the poster board, you will attach your food log, as well as a paragraph, written in cursive, explaining what you learned from recording what you ate for four days.  Think about what sort of things surprised you.  Did you have any difficulty classifying the different foods you ate into the right category?

Your project will be graded as follows:

100 pts. Total
