In 1972, a group of Asian Americans students, attending an Asian American Experience class at the University of Oregon decided to form an organization to fulfill their unique social and academic needs and concerns. Out of this informal meeting grew the Asian/Pacific American Student Union, or APASU (pronounced ap-a-sue).
