The Steering
Committee meets on a bi-weekly basis and serves as a sort of
"Coordinating Council"
for the Summer Diversity Interns. The group recognizes that much
input at a variety
of levels is both necessary and welcome in order for us to put forth
and maintain a solid
summer and beyond collaborative working group regarding issues
of diversity and inclusion
at the University of Oregon.
The committee serves
the function of a "sounding board" for ideas, contacts,
and procedural suggestions
given to the summer diversity internships. It aids in
trouble shooting, provides
a broad perspective of comments, questions, and feed back,
helps in the coordinating
effort regarding campus diversity dialogue, serves as a
communication link
to various offices and personnel who attend, and is an organized
and dynamic forum at
which the topic of campus diversity are discussed and
realized in a safe,
practical, and ongoing atmosphere.
The goal of the Steering
Committee is to serve as the main forum for dialogue
and work to institutionalize
topics of diversity at the U of O. Through dialogue, research,
and other means we
can create and enact positive changes at our Institution of Higher Education.
It is never too late
to come to a meeting, give input, and ask questions.
All are welcome to
attend.
