Sat, Feb 12: Ducks lose their captain for the year- Oregon senior and captain Chris Geib ended his college career when he broke his wrist in his last ever home game as a Duck as result of a questionable hit after the whistle. The Ducks never recovered from this loss of their key team leader and were deflated as Western Washington shut them out 2-0 in Eugene. Western Washington played a very strong game, not giving the Ducks many quality opportunities. The Vikings' goalie Dave Morril stopped all 37 shots that came his way.  Western Washington scored to take the 1-0 lead with a minute left in the second. The Ducks battled strong to try to tie it up, but in the end the Vikings converted an odd man rush that deflated any hopes of the Ducks coming back. Western Washington's up and coming program proved that they can be a force in the ACHA in years to come. 

Fri, Feb 11: Ducks ruin Vikings undefeated season- Oregon was able to hold the Vikings back in a 4-3 victory in Eugene, after giving up a late third period 4-1 lead.  Oregon got on the scoreboard fast as Tyler Shaffar scored on a mini-breakaway 2 minutes into the game. The Ducks had the lead all the way until the 2nd period when Western Washington star Julien LaLond scored his 29th goal of the season. It was all quiet until the third period when the Ducks came out with three goals to take what they thought was a comfortable lead. Matt Mattson scored a minute into the third followed by Shaffar's 2nd goal of the night. Jake Werhane ended getting what was the eventual winning goal giving the Ducks four with a pinpoint accurate wrister.  Vikings did not give up, scoring two quick goals to answer. But in the end the Ducks were able to hold them behind goalie Josh Hardin solid work.

Sun, Jan 30: Ducks cancel game with Western Washington-
The already undermanned Ducks became even more shorthanded before Sunday, due to a key injures and player academic absentee problems, the weary Ducks had no choice but the cancel the Western Washington match in Bellingham with a forfeit.

Sat, Jan 29: Huskies rebound to split with Ducks- The Huskies came out flying Saturday night out playing and outworking the shorthanded Ducks with a 5-2 victory in Seattle. Ducks goalie, Chris Delissio, kept the Ducks in the game with a some huge saves, but in the end the Ducks offense sputtered. The Huskies jumped out to a quick 2-0 first period lead. The Huskies had the momentum, until Andrew Belcher continued his 6 game goal scoring streak to get the Ducks within one near the end of the second period. However, the tired Ducks fell apart as the Huskies scored two quick goals at the end of the period to throw the Ducks into disarray. The Huskies rallied with their fans support to finish the frustrated Ducks with another goal to start the third. Doug Washburn scored the Ducks second goal but it was too late. The Ducks failed to convert two 5-3 power play opportunities. By the end of the game the Ducks were skating with 1 and half lines due to injuries and player academic abstinces.

Fri, Jan 28: Ducks blank the Huskies- Led by Josh Hardin's 18 saves in net the Ducks shutout the Washington Huskies on the road 3-0. The Duck's forward line, of Doug Washburn Andrew Belcher, and Tyler Shaffar, known as the "Green Line," each scored a goal. Belcher continued his goal scoring streak in the 1st period deflecting Rob Starkey's blast from the point to give the Ducks the early lead, followed by Wasburn to make it 2-0. The Ducks next struck with a short handed goal as Shaffar essentially finished off the Huskies to give the Ducks the commanding 3-0 lead. Ducks held back the Huskies in the third in route to a rare road victory.

Sat, Jan 22- Physical, hard fought match won by the Ducks:
In a rough game that saw 6 players receive game misconducts the Ducks held back Washington 6-4 in front of one the largest crowds of the year. The Huskies came out flying scoring the first goal. Then forward Russ Atterdige, took the puck from deep in the defensive zone and skated all the way down the ice, around the defense, before  beating the goalie five hole to tie it up 1-1. Doug Washburn came out of his scoring slump with his first of two goals to give the Ducks the lead. After the huskies tied it up in the second period, Washburn, and Atteridge gave the ducks a two goal lead going into the third. In the third, Andrew Belcher netted one, to continue his 4 game scoring streak. Kyle Eliason, then scored his first career goal to give the Ducks 6-2 lead. with of all the Duck defensemen in the box or kicked out of the game, UW came back with two quick goals. However, the blood fest ended and UW's comeback attempt was cut short.

Fri, Jan 21- Duck's easily defeat the Huskies: In front of an excited home crowd the Ducks played a solid game with a 4-1 victory over Washington to end their four game skid. Ducks outshot the Huskies 41-27. Tyler Shaffar started the scoring on the powerplay with a wrap around goal 12 minutes into the first. Matt Matson contributed the next goal, however UW answered back with a goal of their own to make it 2-1. From then on it was all Ducks, as Andrew Belcher continued his 3 game goal scoring streak with his tally in the first, followed up by Cam Hall's rifle from the slot in the second. UW picked up the intensity, becoming more physical in late stages, but were not able to put any more on the board as Josh Hardin continued his solid play.

Sat, Jan 15- USC's 1st period too much for Ducks:
In a reversal of Friday night, the Ducks came out flat in the 1st period, but finished the rest of the game stronger in a 7-3 loss to the USC Trojans. USC took a 4-0 lead after the first period of play. However, the Ducks came out flying in the second making 4-2 thanks to Priest Medina and Andrew Belcher's goals. USC struck back to make it 5-2 before Rob Starkey scored his first career goal as a Duck with a slap shot from the point. However, Oregon was not able to do much more as the USC defense and goaltending was able to silence the Ducks. USC scored 3 shorthanded goals to make it five for the weekend.

Fri, Jan 14- Ducks continue poor third period pattern:
The Ducks collapsed for the 2nd straight game in a 8-2 loss to USC in Southern California. USC struck first in the 1st period before Andrew Belcher tied the game up. However, USC scored the next goal a minute later and eventually took a 3-1 lead going into the third period. With only two and half forward lines and four Defenseman the Ducks could not muster enough energy and the Trojans pounced on the Ducks with some lucky breaks and solid play. USC Eric Kahnert scored 4 goals in the Trojans victory. USC had 2 short handed goals. Tyler Shaffar scored the other goal for the Ducks.

Sat, Jan 8-Weber State silences the Ducks:Weber State took a 3-1 into the third period, but the Ducks fell apart as Weber exploded for 7 unanswered goals in the third period to blowout the Ducks. It was very physical contest with scrums and mini-fights breaking out throughout the game. The Ducks offensive problems continued as they could not convert on 7 powerplay opportunities.. Weber state jumped ahead 3-0 after the first  period of play, before Forward Brett Ledder scored the Ducks lone goal in the second.

Fri, Jan 7- Weber State pulls out victory: In probably one of the fastest and most exciting games of the year, Weber State comes out on top in 3-1 victory in Eugene, Ore. The Wildcats came out fast with two first period goals. However, Matt Mattson scored a powerplay goal with 1 minute left in the 2nd period to get the Ducks to within one. In an intense battle in the 3rd, Weber State was finally able to put the Ducks away with 3 minutes left in the game. Goalie Josh Hardin played phenomenal in net with 39 saves. Weber State's goalie Korri Vinton also played a solid game with 23 saves.

Sat, Dec 4- Ducks complete the sweep of the Cougs: 
Oregon wasted no time tonight, as they jumped to a quick 7-0 lead in the first period in a 14-1 victory over Washington State. Jeff McGillis regained his scoring touch with 4 goals and 1 assist. Tyler Shaffar also had 5 points with 2 goals and another playmaker with 3 assists. Priest Medina maintained his passing touch by getting 4 helpers and also putting one in himself. Mike Slotnick played another solid game as he finished out his UO career with two more points. 

Fri, Dec 3- Ducks blow out WSU: Despite Washington State's early goal 30 seconds into the game, the Ducks rebounded to easily defeat WSU 7-2 in Eugene, Ore. Chris Delissio made his home debut starting in net making 18 saves. Doug Washburn tallied two goals and Tyler Shaffar got the playmaker with 3 assists. Andrew Belcher and Jake Werhane also contributed with multiple point games. WSU goalie, Stu Palmer, played phenomenal making 40 saves, but the Ducks offensive firepower was just too strong.


Nov 11-13 Brutal Bay Area Road trip:
the shorthanded Ducks were swept down in Northern California by Stanford and San Jose State. The Ducks only had two forward lines and 3 regular defensemen, and were not able to keep up the intensity. Top players, Andrew Belcher (shoulder), Gabe Watson (back), Matt Mattson, Craig Plazke and Cam Hall were not able to attend the trip 

Nov 11- OT Shootout haunts Ducks... again: Stanford came out strong with their captain scoring 4 goals and having one assist in a 6-5 overtime victory. Stanford  jumped to a 5-2 lead early in the third period. However, the Ducks made a great come back to send the game into an overtime shootout. Late in third period Jake Wehrane stepped it up to score his first goal as a Duck to bring it with in one. Minutes later Tyler Shaffar tied the game up with 5 mins left with his second goal of the game. In PAC-8 tied games go  into an overtime shootout. In the top of the fifth round, with the Ducks up 1-0 in the shootout, Jeff McGillis hit the post in his attempt to win the game. Stanford scored in the bottom of the fifth and eventually scored the game winner in the extra 6th frame, continuing a Duck tradition of losing overtime shootouts.

Nov 12- San Jose State shuts out Ducks: Oregon could not match up to San Jose State's depth, as the Spartans defeated the Ducks 3-0. San Jose State out shot the Ducks but Goalie Josh Hardin's solid performance helped  keep San Jose at bay.  San Jose State finally broke through with a couple of chippy goals to put the Ducks away for good. The Ducks defensive game plan did not allow for many opportunities to score. 

Nov 13- Stanford embarrasses the Ducks- Once again, The Ducks were down 4-2 going into the third period. Only this time they could not muster a comeback as Stanford broke the game apart scoring 5 unanswered goals to destroy the tired Ducks 9-2 in San Francisco. The Ducks could not keep up the intensity on the third night of a grueling road trip. Jeff McGillis and Tyler Shaffar scored the Ducks goals. 

11-9-99: Oregon Daily Emerald: Hockey Skates to win, tie with Utah

Sat, Nov 6- Ducks tie Utah: Ducks skate to a 4-4 tie in another physical and chippy match. Ducks came out flying once again jumping to 2-0 lead three minutes into the game. However, Utah battled back to make it 2-1. Russ Atteridge quickly answered to regain the lead to 3-1. Utah then scored two more goals to tie the game and eventually take the lead early in second period. Tyler Shaffar scored the final goal of the game tying it up three minutes into the second. Both teams had numerous opportunities to win at the end of third, but neither could convert. 

Fri, Nov 5- Ducks defense shuts down Utah: Led by a solid defensive effort, and goalie Josh Hardin's 37 saves in net the Ducks win 4-1 in front of another loud home crowd. The Ducks came out flying taking a 2-0 lead into the third period. Utah came back and made it 2-1 in the third before the Ducks offense power, thanks in part to Andrew Belcher's second goal of the game,  took over the game. The Ducks killed of two 5-3 power plays as the penalty kill was solid holding Utah to no goals on 7 attempts. The game became chippy at the end as Utah became frustrated by the Ducks stingy defensive work.

11-2-99: Oregon Daily Emerald: Ducks skate, split with Bruins

Sat, Oct 23- Oregon holds back the Bruins:
Oregon dominated the game early but the Bruins kept coming back in Oregon's 5-4 home victory. Priest Medina scored his second goal of the weekend one minute into the game, and Craig Platzke followed with two of his own as the Ducks immediately jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first period. However the Bruins were relentless. Down 4-1 the Bruins came back to make it 4-3, but could not finish out as the Ducks defense maintained a 5-4 victory in a physical contest. Jeff McGillis continued his solid play with 3 assists.

Fri, Oct 22-  Bruins silence the Ducks on home ice: The hometown crowd was loud and excited as the Ducks opened up their series vs UCLA. However, it was not enough as the Ducks for the first time in one year lost on their home ice. The Ducks came out flat, and the Bruins jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two periods of play. The Ducks tried to muster a comeback as they scored two early goals in third period by Priest Medina (his first of the year) and Chris Geib, getting the hometown crowd on their feet. However, led by Bruins star goalie Mike Michelena, the Bruins were able to hold the Ducks back. As the game opened up the Bruins put the nail in the coffin with two late goals.

10-25-99: State Press (Arizona St.): Ice Devils destroy Oregon twice, push winning streak to four

Sat, Oct 23- Arizona State completes the sweep- The Ducks came out strong in the first period of play, however, it was not enough, as DI opponent ASU completed the sweep of the Ducks down in Phoenix with a 12-4 victory. After the first period of play the score was tied 3-3, thanks in part to Brett Ledder's two goals, but in the second period ASU scored 6 unanswered goals (4 power play) to deflate any ducks hope of an upset. The weekend series was the first ever DI opponent for the Ducks, as they hope to open up there schedules to more competitive games. 

Fri, Oct 22- Third period breakdown: Arizona State's talent and depth were too much for the Ducks to handle as they lost 11-1. ASU was up 4-0 after two periods but broke the game wide open in the third as the Ducks fell apart. Josh Hardin faced 43 shots allowing 7 goals, before backup goalie Chris Delissio made his UO debut in the third period. McGillis scored the Ducks lone goal with 5 minutes left in the third to prevent the shutout.

Oct 16- Ducks sweep the Bears: Oregon sends Cal home on sour note winning both games in the weekend series. Brett Ledder got his first goal of the season, followed by two more to complete the hat trick. Tyler Shaffar also added two goals as the Ducks win 5-1. Jeff McGillis continues his spectacular play with three assists. Hardin was solid once again in net making 25 saves. Oregon broke the 1-1 tie at the end of 2nd period with a power play goal by Shaffar, and the ran away with the game in the third period.

Oct 15- Friday night, another opening night hit: Ducks win game 1 of the series with a 4-3 victory over CAL- Berkeley. Jeff McGillis netted two goals, and Craig Platzke and Tyler Shaffar finished up the scoring with a goal each. Starting goalie Josh Hardin made 22 saves.  Ducks managed to maintain their one goal lead as Cal picked up their pressure a the end. in a penalty filled third period for the Ducks.

Aug 2- Ducks acquire new classic collegiate design Jersey for 99-00 season
