I-5 Cup Championship Series

University of Oregon vs. University of Washington

Northwest Collegiate hockey pride will be in stake this year and for years to 
come, as the Ducks and Huskies will participate in a season long championship series
known as the Athletic Awards I-5 cup. The I-5 is the interstate linking the Washington and 
Oregon campuses. Athletic Awards is the official sponsor of the Cup, and have provided the 
championship trophy seen above. The series winner is determined in a best of 
5 format  with each team having two regularly scheduled home games. The fifth game, if necessary, 
will take place as a shoot-out after game four. The system is modeled after 
University of Southern California (USC) and University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), 
who have their own best of five championships series known as the Crosstown Cup. 
The cup simply adds more significance and local pride to the normal regular season games.
