Weight Room Expansion

Complete!  During the winter months the sounds of hammers, saws and heavy machinery filled the air as work began on the expansion of the University of Oregon varsity athlete weight room.  The only sounds heard throughout the weight room now are the familiar heavy thuds of a more familiar type of heavy machinery.

Construction recently finished on the expansion of the varsity athlete weight room located within the Len Casanova Athletic Center.  The additional square footage, to what was already a very spacious facility, and natural light have created a bright and energetic atmosphere for University of Oregon student-athletes to continue their dedicated and consistent work habits.  With the finishing touches being made to the interior of the weight room this summer, the house is rock'n again as work is performed on any one of the 14 new platforms, 22 squat areas and 12 bench and/or incline stations.

Along with a wide variety of additional new equipment, the expansion has greatly enhanced the ability of the strength and conditioning staff to provide efficient and effective training to student athletes at the University of Oregon

"Summer 2001"

It is an exciting time at the University of Oregon for the athletes & staff as this and many other projects are completed or near completion.  The expansion of the weight room is just another step in the strength & conditioning program's overall goal of improving the strength, speed & agility of student athletes at the University of Oregon.
