Hello all, this is Madelyn, your new web coordinator. In the next few weeks I will be updating the site with this terms upcoming Pocket shows, new board member information, and the new facebook account link. Hold tight!

10/06/07
Wow. Almost 8 months since an update. Impressive.
Despite the long absence of activity here in the Pocket, hopefully you've all been getting prepped for another great season of student theatre! I know I have! Check out the Season Schedule page for the full list of great shows and events taking place this term!
Thanks for tuning in. Stay in touch!

Hows about a delicious little update, eh?

Mmmm.
Here we are. Closing in on the final weeks of yet another term. As always, thank you endlessly to those who attend our productions and share our love for student theatre. You keep this thing alive.
That being said, come on over to the Pocket this Thursday, Friday & Saturday
for Kyle Warren's Production of:
ROALD DAHL SHORTS.
A play which is, as one
might assume, a collection of short stories by Roald Dahl adapted into short
plays!
Awesome.
Be there.
In other business, we are now accepting submissions for shows to be produced
during our Spring 2007 season.
All submissions are DUE no later than 4 pm on
MONDAY, MARCH 5th.
Proposals can be picked up in the Green Room, located in
the Basement of Villard Hall, or can also be downloaded as a high-quality
PDF from the DIRECTING section
on the get involved page of this site.
Side note: the latter method will
make me extremely happy, since I don't think anyone has downloaded a proposal
yet :-(...)
But no hard feelings, friends. Either way you decide to fill them out, proposals can be turned in:
A) to a known member of the Pocket board (on the contact list)
B) to the Pocket Theater box in the UT office, second floor of Villard hall
C) under the door of the Pocket office (small room near the aforementioned
Green Room).
Once again, it doesn't matter which way you do it, but we all hope you do it!
Keep in touch.
Love,
Patrick.

The new year has begun.

Similarly, the new term has begun.
Consequently, FIVE brand new shows have blossomed in the hearts and minds of the Pocket Theater's dedicated directors, designers, and actors, hoping to soon spread their rich pollen of dramatic eloquence and beauty upon the huddled masses of students who like going to plays.
Hopefully, that includes you. :-)
The season schedule page has been updated with information and dates for the upcoming winter term shows, which are destined for greatness.
More updates on the happenings in the Pocket Board are in the works. Stay tuned.

Let us begin with a sweet dramatization of school bullying.

Rad.
Now, onto the first order of business!
Hopefully, you've had a chance to attend the previous 2 shows, Subversion and The Greatest Show on Earth, in the Pocket. Good stuff. I've even heard a rumor that the latter show might be "resurrected"...for lack of a better word. We'll be sure to keep you posted on that development!
Speaking of shows, another one opens tomorrow! The ambitious Pocket production of Sophocles' ANTIGONE, directed by Melissa Walther, will start tomorrow at 5 pm and continue through Saturday, October 25. Due to the epic-sized cast, seating will be extrememly limited and maximum occupancy will be strictly enforced.
In other words, come early.
Check it.
In other news relevant to yous, the Pocket will begin accepting show proposals for our Winter 2007 season on Monday, October 30.
Subsequently, proposals are DUE no later than Monday, November 13. The lottery will take place on November 20th. Remember that proposal forms can be found in the Green Room in Villard hall and as a PDF file on our get involved page.
The board has just begun the process of updating the Pocket's archaic bylaws! If you care about that at all...well, you're in for a real treat!
I was serious about that street team...hang in there.

Okay, okay. I know, I know. It’s been awhile.
After enduring great trials of suffering, the Pocket online has risen!

Hi.
Welcome back. :-)
Due to complications in the realm of the webmasters, the Pocket has left you behind and shoved off into another epic season of great independent theatre! I apologize for the late notice!
Subversion, a devised piece directed by Heidi Turnquist and Jennifer Wood is playing NOW*, so go check it out!
Further information about upcoming shows for the fall 2006 Pocket Season as well as a downloadable PDF of the season poster can be found at the season page!
IN other news, the contact page has been updated with radical pictures of the Pocket board and fresh contact info. If you have any questions about anything**, please feel free to message a member of the board. I have taken the liberty of including links to each board member’s personal facebook page as well. We’re all friends here. At least, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be...right?
Speaking of facebook, if you have an account (since it is now available to everyone,
after all), add The Pocket Playhouse to your friends list! C'mon:
Friends of the Pocket not only receive regular reminders about upcoming
shows, but
also
gain
access
to our growing archive of pictures from current and past Pocket shows! Log
in, show the Pocket some love, talk about theatre, etc.
For current and future directors, a temporary resource section has been added at the bottom of the get involved page. Hopefully Pocket directors will soon have their very own page. For now, they share.
Oh yeah, also keep an eye out for information about the street team...
It's good to be back.
-Patrick Minar O'Driscoll
*The statement "playing NOW" makes reference to 5pm on October 14th.
Uses of the literal "now" in this context are not endorsed by the
Pocket Theatre or it's affiliates, the Associated Student Government of the
University of Oregon.
**Please refrain from asking questions not pertaining to or regarding the Pocket
Theatre. Unless you add us as friends on facebook. Then we cool.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9/27/06
OMG!! It's been soooo looong since this site has been updated! Hahahaha! ROTFL!
In other business, the first pocket board meeting is scheduled to take place tomorrow. I'll likely get into gear at some point shortly after that and start working on some media for the upcoming Pocket season! Radical!
I am really hoping to implement a successful "street team" for the lovely Pocket this year to help with poster distribution and advertising. My common sense tells me that making an advertisement is worth very little if no persons outside of our little theatre community are exposed to it!
Please contact someone on the board ASAP if you are at all interested in helping us gain more support for the Pocket! I expect the time committment to be extremely minimal.
I like this website, but please tell me if you don't.
I'll change it.
Seriously.
-Pat

Happy Memorial day weekend to all!
First, many thanks to everyone who attended SEX BEFORE SEX this weekend! Hopefully you enjoyed the show!
Well, this is it. We're closing in on the final Pocket show of the year! BOOMER will open on Thursday June 1st at 5pm, with additional performances on June 2nd and 3rd at 5pm as well. Come check it out and celebrate another year of great independent student theatre from the Pocket Playhouse!
Remember: One Page Plays for OPPF are due on Tuesday May 30th by Midnight under the Pocket office door in the basement of Villard Hall.
Thanks for stopping by!
-Pat
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello again!
SEX BEFORE SEX, the devised work by Michelle Rodrigue and Anna Metzger-Sieg is now playing in the Pocket Theatre! Go see it today and/or tomorrow at 5pm!
A quick update on the ONE PAGE PLAY FESTIVAL:
The festival will take place on Sunday, June 11 at 3pm. In a slight change from last year, the event will be held in the ampitheatre on the south side of Villard Hall campus. This has been the tradition in past years, and since the new theatre will soon replace the ampitheatre space, this year's OPPF on the lawn will be the last!
As planned, there will be freee fruit and a massive sub sandwich to be enjoyed by all before the festivities take place.
We need even more plays!!!! Interested in being a part of the OPPF? the best and simplest way to do so is to WRITE A ONE PAGE PLAY! Any random concepts you want to write about, surrealism, dadaism, absurdism, realism, monologue, or just mental vomit to the page. Make it look like a play and make it fit on one page and someone will direct it at the festival!!! AWESOME! Plays are DUE on TUESDAY, MAY 30. Just slide them under the door to the Pocket Office in the basement of Villard!!! YEAH
If you would like to direct a one page play at the festival, sign up in the Green Room in Villard Hall, no prerequisite experience required.
If you're still looking for something to do after the Pocket show this evening, check out ABSOLUTE IMPROV in the EMU Fir Room at 10 pm. ;-)
xoxoxo
Pat
PS: New pictures coming soooooon!!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5/19/06
Welp, the voting has ended and the Pocket Board for 2005-06 is officially in place! Keep an eye out for an updated contact list as well as some new pictures...eventually.
Have a show you would like to direct or devise in the Pocket? Proposals for the Fall
2006 season are due on Wednesday, May 31 by 5pm.
You can download directors proposal form in PDF format from the Get
Involved page or obtain them from the Green Room in Villard Hall.
Submit completed proposals to the Pocket Playhouse mailbox located in the Theatre
Arts office in Villard Hall, or just slide them under the pocket office door
in the basement.
The ONE PAGE PLAY FESTIVAL is currently scheduled for Sunday, June 4th in the afternoon. If you've some time to kill, why not write a one page play to be directed and performed by other students? I'd say that's a damn fine way to spend your time. A damn fine way. Submit completed plays to the mailbox in Villard or slide 'em under the Pocket office door.
SEX BEFORE SEX opens in less than one week, so keep spreading the word about the Pocket and keep checking the site for updates on upcoming events!
And enjoy your weekend.
-Pat
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5/17/06
Alright everyone, today is the day! Head on over to the Theatre Arts office in Villard Hall and cast your votes for the 2006/07 Pocket Board! GO!!
More updates sooooon.

5/14/06
For those NEW to the site: a warm, waaaarm welcome from the Pocket Board!
Now that The Pocket Playhouse has taken sub-human form through The Facebook, be sure to add him/her (I think she's probably a woman...we'll decide on the ballots this Wednesday) if you haven't already. Keep spreading the word about this University's only outlet for great student theatre!
Speaking of great theatre, a hearty thank-you to everyone who came out to support FEELIN' GOOD this weekend! Very good times were had by ALL.
POCKET BOARD ELECTIONS!
Tomrrow, Monday, May 15th, is the last day to nominate yourself for a position on the University Theatre Pocket Board! The sign up sheet is on the west wall of the Green Room in Villard Hall. Time is running out!
The election itself is set to take place on Wednesday the 17th in the Theatre Arts office on the second floor of Villard Hall. All students are eligible to vote ONCE and can do so at anytime before, let's say, 4:45pm on Wednesday. Be. There. Please?
This week, A Midsummer Night's Dream is opening it's three week run on the Robinson Theatre stage, therefore, no Pocket show will take place. However, be sure to be at the Pocket next Thursday for the opening of SEX BEFORE SEX, a devised work by Michelle Rodrigue and Anna-Metzger Seig, which will run through that weekend.
Here we go week 7! Yeaaaah!
Love, Pat5/12/06
Hello again! I know, I know, I know it seems about 3 weeks too soon to be updating again, but beleive it or not, there is more Pocket news to report!
Excellent!
1) University of Oregon students: stay tuned for more information on the upcoming Pocket board elections! If you're interested in running for a position on the Pocket board, time is running out! Hurry over to the green room in Villard and nominate yourself for a position! HURRY!
2) I'm working on an addition to the site which will allow us to showcase production photos from Pocket shows each season, but until then...
...add the Pocket Playhouse to your friends list on Facebook!
3) Since the Pocket has it's very own uoregon.edu email address, it now also has it's very own facebook page! Spread the word!
4) Our lovely historian, Lucy Dawson, has taken some new (even sexier) photos of the current Pocket board, so keep checking the contact page for those! ;-)
5) Last but not least, there are TWO more preformances of FEELIN' GOOD left
this evening and tomorrow at 5pm. I've heard great things, so come and check it
out!
Yeah!
Love, Pat
PS: I finally fixed that glitch I mentioned months ago...so the site should look even better in Mozilla Firefox now. Which you should be using. Sweet. Thanks.

The Spring 2006 Season Has Arrived!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4/7/06
Hello again everyone! Look for updates and the announcement of our Spring '06 season by Wednesday 4/12, after our first board meeting of the term.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3/3/06
Hello again! For those who have been checking out the site from time to time, I apologize for the lack of updates over the past month! Thanks to everyone who came out to support Road to Nirvana and Seascape with Sharks and Dancer! Both were quite fantastic in my humble opinion.
Anywho, the Lottery is scheduled to take place on Monday the 6th at 5:30 pm. In other words, we'll be announcing a whole new season of Pocket shows very very soon!
Until then, BE SURE to check out Hayley Zeal's production of Alice in Wonderland coming up this weekend. It is destined to be an unforgettable show!
You can even download the poster for Alice in Wonderland here to help support the Pocket!
'Tis all for now! If there is anything in particular you would like to see on the website in order to make this resource even more useful, please feel free to email me with suggestions!

Wello, hello once again. Just a few important updates -
1) **ATTENTION:** Those who wish to direct a show in the Pocket during Spring term 2006:
Proposals to direct a show in the Pocket are DUE on MONDAY FEBRUARY 20 @ 4:30 PM. Turn them in to the Pocket Box in the Theatre Arts Office within VIllard Hall.
The Lottery will be held on MONDAY MARCH 6 @ 5:30 PM in Room 202 of Villard Hall.
Check out the get involved section of the site to download a Director's Proposal, find information on the lottery, and to brush up on the process. Please feel free to email Rachael or Scott if you have any questions or concerns.
2 ) There will be a special production of "Road to Nirvana" on
Tuesday, February 14th at 5 pm.
While the Tuesday performance will present the show in it's entirety,
the play will be split into 2 parts for the weekend due to time
constraints.
So, to clarify, "Road to Nirvana" can be viewed in one setting
on Tuesday the 14th. Act I of the show will be presented on Friday the
17th
and Act
2 on Saturday the 18th respectively. Whichever way you decide to see it, we
hope to see you there!
Thanks to everyone who came out to make "Let's Go Home" a success,
your support means everything!
You can still download the video trailer for Derek Johnson's production of "Road
to Nirvana" below.
...well, I guess that's it for the "important" updates, but also be sure to check out the updated links page for some neat stuff.

Here it is, another reminder to check out Danielle Kardum's "Hey, Let's Go Home" tonight and tomorrow evening in the Pocket, 5 pm. The Pocket is in room 102 of Villard hall on the University of Oregon campus; the suggested donation is only $1. Be there!
As we prepare to welcome "The Road to Nirvana," which opens in just two weeks, click here (or right click, "save target as") to watch an exclusive trailer by Derek Johnson. It'll either get you excited about the production or just excited about drugs. Hopefully the former. Either way, we hope to see you at the show!

Be sure to check out "Hey, Let's Go Home" opening TONIGHT at 5 pm in the Pocket! The performance is a solo work written, directed, and performed by Theatre Arts major Danielle Kardum. Cheers! The budget hearing for the Pocket this week went very well! Yess.
Posters for "Hey, Let's Go Home," the first show of our winter '06
season, are available for download on the season schedule page!
Tell your friends, put up some posters, and we'll see you at the show! :-)
PS: Are you using Mozilla Firefox as your web browser? You should be, it's
great. BUT, unfortunately a bit of the code I used to format this site isn't
recognized
by that particular browser, so while the text in this window should scroll
down without moving the background, you may notice that it most certainly
does. I hope to fix this minor issue ASAP, but if you care to see it the way
it should
look right now, try checking out the site in Internet Explorer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1/20/06
Well folks, after an "extended" hiatus from web glory, the official site for the Pocket Theatre is finally up and running! Yeah!
As the first order of business, I would like to extend a massive amount of
gratitude to
Garron
Hale, assistant director of the Social
Sciences Instructional Lab in Mckenzie Hall for mentoring me in the design
of this page.
I certainly hope you enjoy it.
Many thanks as well to Joseph Gilg for helping
us get this site off the ground, as well as the entire University Theatre faculty
for
their
continued support of our organization.
Secondly, congratulations and a warm welcome to our new pocketeers Michelle
Rodrigue, Joe Snyder-Kloos, and Lucy Dawson! We're uber-excited to have them
on board and working to make the Pocket even
better!
Thrid(ly), feel free to explore the site!
-If you're interested in getting involved with the Pocket, you'll be able to
find all the latest news about upcoming auditions, board elections, design
opportunities, and other random events right here.
-From the season schedule page you can view all upcoming
productions taking place in the Pocket this term and read some quick synopses
and notes from the directors (once they get around to writing them). ALSO,
if one were so inclined, he/she could even help spread the word about the Pocket
around
campus
and Eugene
by
downloading
and printing out some of our fresh season posters! Whoa!
-To learn about the mission of the pocket, you should definitely check out the
about the pocket page.
-Want to take the wheel and direct a show of your own? You can find all the
information you need to get started and even
download a Director's Proposal form in PDF format from the get
involved section.
If you have ANY questions, concerns, or comments about the Pocket or Pocket related
activites,
contact Scott or Rachael from the contact the board page...and
don't
forget to admire
all of the pretty faces who are working to keep this theatre alive. Thanks pretty
faces.
Until there is something else worth posting...have good days. And thank YOU for your support. :-)
Love,
Patrick O'Driscoll
