The ASUO Student Senate is an 18-member
elected body, nine of which are finance senators and nine of which are
academic senators. The Senate is responsible for the allocation
of the Student
Incidental Fee a mandatory fee that every student must pay.
This fee is assessed through a year long budget process and must be
approved by the Senate, The ASUO Executive and the University
President.

The Senate Seats are as follows:
Senate Seats #1 #2 #3
Programs Finance Committee (PFC)
The PFC, with three seats reserved for senators, allocates the budget
for 133 student groups on campus and acts as a liason between the PFC
and senate.
Senate Seats #4 #5 #6
EMU Board of Directors (EMUB)
The EMUB, with three seats reserved for senators,
is responsible for making general policy decisions, allocating the
EMU's multi-million dollar
budget, assigning space for student groups, and acts as a liason
between the EMUB and senate.
Senate Seats #7 #8 #9
Athletic Department Finance Committee (ADFC)
The ADFC, with three seats reserved for senators,
negotiates the allocation of student tickets, prices, location and
quantity with the athletic department, and acts as a liason between the
ADFC and senate.
Academic Senators
The
nine academic senators are elected solely by the students who are
currently in the school or department represented by the seat.

Each Senator holds weekly office hours attends weekly
Senate meetings, sits on at least two student faculty committees,
participates in the special request review process and must sit at the
senate information table once each week.
