All,

As most of you have heard, two people were assaulted in the Galley 9 October approximately 8:15 am. The two victims were Tony Beyer and Joe Stermer, both work in the Galley. Both victims required stitches, but should recover fully.

The attacker is being held in McMurdo until the U.S. Attorney, District of Hawaii determines which course they wish to follow. The NSF Station Manager is a Deputized U.S. Marshal and is handling the investigation until further notice.

The attacker is being watched around the clock and poses no threat to the community. If there are any questions please feel free to contact Stan Wisneski at 2337.

From an inside source:

You probably know by now, since it took me a while to get back to you. One of the Winter-Over cooks had been told he would leave on an early plane, but was bumped to a later one (note, there are different versions of how many times the bumping happened). He spent the night drinking, came into the galley, picked a fight, then found a hammer (maybe he brought it with him into the galley) and hit 2 of his co-workers over the head. One guy needed quite a few stitches I heard.

He left, under escort, today. He was only 5 days away from completing his contract. Oh well.....

Rumors?

I heard that the cook used the claw side of the hammer. Ouch!

Back?
