President Frohnmayer Accepting Donation

Philantrophy Chairmen Matt Nuernberg and
Mike Worthington along with President Robbie McEachern presented
a donation of $1800 to President Frohnmayer who accepted it on
the behalf
of The Fanconi Anemia Research Fund. The donation was raised from
the fall Powder Puff Philantrophy.

Donation to Fanconi Anemia Research Fund: |
| Today the public relations representative
for Theta Chi Fraternity, Bryan Caplan, presented President Frohnmayer
with a donation of $400 to benefit the Fanconi
Anemia Research Fund, Inc. The money was raised last spring during
our Theta Chi Luau philanthropy at the chapter house. |

In the spring term of 2005 President Frohnmayer
and Mrs. Frohnmayer, visited the Chapter house to attend a Monday
Night Dinner and meet with members of the house as well as the Alumni
Board. At this time we welcomed President Frohnmayer to take a look
a current Fraternity Life on campus and to enjoy a steak dinner
with chapter members and alumni. We also told President Frohnmayer
at this time our plans to donate our profits from the spring philanthropy
to his Fanconi
Anemia Research Fund, Inc. which provides research into the
rare disease.

TOM JERNSTEDT (Class of 1967)
"INDIANAPOLIS---NCAA Senior Vice-president Tom Jernstedt has been elected President of USA Basketball for 2000-04 and will serve as chair of the organization's Executive Committee during his tenure. Jernstedt succeeds USA Basketball President and National Basketball Association Deputy Commissioner Russ Granik.
"I look forward to serving USA Basketball over the next four years and working with the constituent members to make the organization as strong and viable as it can be," said Jernstedt."

LEE C. BOLLINGER (Class of 1969)
"Lee C. Bollinger is President of Columbia University in New York City and a member of the faculty of the Law School. He is a graduate of the University of Oregon and Columbia Law School, where he was an Articles Editor of the Law Review. After serving as law clerk for Judge Wilfred Feinberg on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Chief Justice Warren Burger on the United States Supreme Court, he joined the faculty of the University of Michigan Law School in 1973. In 1987 he was named the Dean of the University of Michigan Law School, a position he held for seven years. He became Provost of Dartmouth College and Professor of Government in July 1994 and was named the twelfth President of the University of Michigan in the November 1996. His primary teaching and scholarly interests are focused on free speech and First Amendment issues, and he has published numerous books, articles, and essays in scholarly journals on these and other subjects. Three highly acclaimed contributions to First Amendment literature include Eternally Vigilant: Free Speech in the Modern Era, published by the University of Chicago Press in 2001, Images of a Free Press, published by the University of Chicago Press in 1991, and The Tolerant Society: Freedom of Speech and Extremist Speech in America, published by Oxford University Press in 1986."

He combines more than 35 years of experience in military public affairs, a corporate communications department and agency work to the new position at Fleishman-Hillard. He has provided strategic and creative counsel over the years to such category leaders as McDonald's Corporation; Campbell Soup Company; Florida Department of Citrus; Sara Lee Corporation; Sony; Levi Strauss & Company."

Trustee Dave Petrone '66, MBA '68, and Nancy Petrone have established a new faculty fellowship for research.

DAVE PETRONE (CLASS OF 1966)
"A $2.5 million gift from University of Oregon alumnus Dave Petrone and his wife, Nancy, will provide student scholarships, new classrooms and laboratories, an endowed librarian position, and funds for sports marketing and a new health research center.
Petrone, chairman of Housing Capital Co. in San Mateo, Calif., says he and his wife were motivated to make the gift�their largest ever to the UO�by their admiration for the UO, its leaders, faculty members and volunteers, and by their desire to promote quality academic programs."

"Foundation trustee Dave Petrone and his wife, Nancy, have established a faculty fellowship in the SOJC with an endowment gift of $100,000. The David and Nancy Petrone Faculty Fellowship is the first endowment of its kind for the School and will be awarded annually to a faculty member for research or teaching that advances communication in the public interest.
Petrone, who received his undergraduate degree in economics in '66 and an MBA in '68, donated money to the School as part of a total gift to the University of $1 million. The Autzen Stadium expansion project received $800,000, and $100,000 has been allotted to help furnish the South Reading Room in the Knight Library."
