Letter From the President:

The Alpha Sigma Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity remains one of the most successful chapters at the University of Oregon. Nurtured by resolute men and ennobled by high and sacred purpose, Alpha Sigma is the only chapter on campus to not lose its charter since establishing itself in 1925.

For over 80 years, Alpha Sigma has helped to develop and mature over 2,000 undergraduate leaders by upholding its values of promoting knowledge, advancing culture and building character. Over the 2005-2006 school year, we proudly initiated 27 men and were recognized as having the "Best Recruitment Effort" of any fraternity.

Alpha Sigma also excels academically. Our 3-term cumulative grade point average of 3.01 surpasses the University of Oregon All-Men's average of 2.975. With useful resources including Big Brother Mentors, Study Tables and a bank of study resources, we place a great emphasis on our scholastic performance. Currently, our brotherhood includes Presidential Scholars, Deans' Scholars and members of the Lundquist College of Business Honors Program and the Society of College Scholars.

The Brothers of Alpha Sigma are leaders on campus, holding memberships in over 30 organizations including Student Senate, Interfraternity Council, the Native American Student Union, UO Hillel, Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Fraternity and the University of Oregon Investment Group. We continue to take an active part in Greek Life and the surrounding community as well. Over the past year, we have participated in more than 10 Greek Life philanthropic events, and we are proud to have just won Alpha Chi Omega Sorority's Diamond Days softball philanthropy. Additionally, we have volunteered an average of over 4 hours of community service per brother in recent terms.

We not only believe in our values of Truth, Temperance, Tolerance and extending the Helping Hand, but we live them on a daily basis. It is for that reason that we proudly take the Best of the Best and make them Better.
