My internship at High Desert Museum in Bend, Oregon was a great experience. My official title was public programs intern, though I had the opportunity to work and learn in departments throughout the museum. I learned how to blacksmith and press apples for cider, helped launch the new Web site, organize the annual fundraiser, and developed activity guides. |

I learned new skills, was inspired by the staff and volunteers, and was able to develop and implement my own programming ideas. Programming surrounding a fly fishing photography exhibit titled Upstream was particularly successful and enjoyable. I also planned the annual harvest festival with 1000 visitors attending. |

The most rewarding part of the experience was working with others who were dedicated to the natural environment and the cultural history of the region. I loved the energy that came from working out of doors and with such dedicated and professional staff and volunteers. |
