I have interned in Education and Public Programs at the Museum of Natural and Cultural History on the University of Oregon campus since January 2004.
The Museum has given me opportunity and support to create and implement new programs.
In spring 2004, I developed a lecture series and family day investigating the stories of Lewis and Clark, focusing on alternative perspectives of the Corps of Discovery. We had an excellent response from visitors and participants. The experience made me more aware than ever of the importance of multiple voices and context is our understandings of the world.
I continue to intern at the Museum for the 2005-2006 academic year. In fall 2005 I received the annual Graduate Award, funding my education at the University of Oregon and allowing me to continue to gain experience and develop new skills in museum education and public programming.
